Christmas Traditions: Overnight Cookie Recipe
This is another old time favorite of the Claus family. This recipe makes a lot of cookies, but can be easily halved and still give you a goodly number of cookies.
Mix together:
4 Cups brown sugar
4 Eggs
1 ½ Cups shortening – melted
2 Teaspoons baking soda in warm water (¼ Cup)
Sift together:
7 Cups flour
2 Teaspoons cinnamon
1 Teaspoon cloves
1 Teaspoon nutmeg
1 Cup chopped nuts
Add flour mixture to first mixture. Add 1 Cup chopped nuts. Mix and shape into rolls. Chill dough overnight. Slice and bake on greased cookie sheets at 400º for 8–10 minutes.
