Easter Traditions

Easter today remains both a religious and secular holiday for most families. Children wake up on Easter morning to find baskets left by the Easter Bunny filled with candy and brightly colored eggs.

Christians attend church giving thanks and praise for the gift of salvation given to them through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The churches are beautifully decorated with Easter lilies and other spring flowers. Hymns echo through the churches joyfully proclaiming “Alleluia, He is Risen”.

Families traditionally have a large meal on Easter with ham commonly being the meat. Later in the day many families have an Easter egg hunt in the home or yard. Plastic eggs are often filled with treats or money or the child who finds the most eggs receives a prize.
