Saint Patricks Day Traditions: Shamrocks
The Shamrock was used by Saint Patrick to illustrate the concept of the Trinity in his conversion of the Irish people. The Shamrock later became a symbol of Irish nationalism when Irish land was seized by the English and their language and religion suppressed. The Shamrock is the national plant of Ireland and the most recognizable symbol of Saint Patrick's Day.
